Cuba - Cienfuegos

We arrived in Cienfuegos from Cayo Largo on 11th February, having left hoping to anchor off Cayo Los Dias. A huge swell, no protection from the high winds and the fact there were two recent wrecks nearby, both catamarans, resulted in us carrying on to Punta del Este. Unfortunately we arrived in the dark so never got to see the Soviet built lighthouse designed as a rocket close up in daylight. As the sea conditions were worsening we took the only sensible decision to push on to Cienfuegos, arriving early morning, after a really rough crossing.
First sight was the abandoned nuclear power station, but what an amazing entrance and deep water harbour. A beautiful place and our first taste of the real Cuba.
