Mexico Part 6 - Guanajuato and La Escuela Mexicana

May 2, 2017

We arrived in Guanajuato specifically to learn Spanish and fell in love with the place.  Camped high on a hill the other side of town, our daily walk to school took us through one of the many tunnels that deal with the traffic in a place that is shoehorned into a narrow ravine.  It's a university town with bars, cafes, restaurants and music everywhere.  It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and justly so.

School consisted of 4 hours of lessons a day as we attempted to learn Spanish intensively.  The homework added to the daily learning experience but we still had time to enjoy the Dia de las Flores, a rather bizarre Palm Sunday parade, take in a few concerts, to visit a few museums (they even have the Museo Iconografico del Quijote), learn to cook Chiles Rellenos and attempt to salsa dance.

We will miss the place and anyone planning a trip to Mexico should definitely add this to their list of places to see.
